Hallym University Medical Center(HUMC), one of the largest medical institutions in Korea, consists of five general hospitals and a dental hospital: Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital; Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital, Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital; Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital, and Hallym University Dental Hospital. HUMC operate 3,200 patient-beds at its hospitals and 6,000 employees including 500 medical professors have been dedicating themselves to enhancing public healthcare, realizing human welfare under the founding principle, ‘To Become a Cornerstone for Public Health Care, To Practice Medical Services of Love and Equality, and To Pursue the Happiness of All Human Beings.’

To meet the growing needs of customers in the rapidly changing medical environment, Hallym started campaigning a slogan ‘Mighty Hallym’ in 2002. Since then it has been bent on making its hospitals specialized medical institutions which would leading in the 21st century. Its affiliated hospitals have been creating great synergy through an integrated network system, while some of specialized clinical centers enjoy a global reputation: a burn center, a spine center and an arthroplasty center at Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital; a da Vinci robotic surgery center, and a center for high-risk pregnant woman and premature delivery at Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital; a head and neck cancer center at Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital; a neurological center at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital; and a spine center and an arthroplasty center at Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital.

As for Hallym’s international cooperation, Hallym has been establishing global partnership with world-renowned universities since 2002, such as Columbia University, Weill Cornell Medical College, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and George Washington University Medical Center in the U.S., Uppsala University in Sweden, the University of Oulu in Finland, Nagasaki University, Nagoya City University, and Tokai University in Japan, Jilin University in China, the University of Medicine & Pharmacy at Hochiminh City in Vietnam. Moreover, Hallym has been inviting students and professors from China, Japan, Russia, Vietnam, Mongol, Uzbekistan, and the Philippines to help them grow to be global professionals by giving lectures and delivering cutting-edge medical skills. HUMC has already experienced hospital management abroad, the Mariana General Hospital in Guam, a 150-bed facility, for two years in 1970s. Hallym is now providing international clinic services for foreign patients.

Since its opening, HUMC has alerted itself to corporate social responsibility(CSR), and has been carrying out social welfare services: management of the Shinlim Welfare Center and the Yongdungpo Senior Welfare Center; free medical care for the disadvantaged; community development projects; and medical supports assistance to Iraq, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and Africa. Hallym’s love for mankind is not just providing medical support. With the declaration of ‘ECO Hallym’ in May 2008, it has been proactive in Eco-friendly management, realizing its sacred mission: practicing medical services of love and equality, and pursuing the happiness of mankind worldwide.
