Established in 1986, Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital has consistently served the healthcare needs of the community. With about 1,300 staff including 287 full-time physicians and 419 nurses, the facility offers a wide range of innovative services at 30 medical departments and many specialized centers and clinics. With approximately 700 beds, it features the state-of-the-art equipment such as Gamma Camera, CT, MRI and the digitalized system including OCS, EMR and PACS.

In 1993, the laboratory medicine at the hospital introduced a Cytoscan, an automated chromosome analyzer, bringing breakthrough in innovations in diagnosing Genetic and hematologic diseases. It is also designated as a center for bone marrow transplants to provide optimal care to people with leukemia and other malignant tumors.

Known for its organ transplants, Kangdong succeeded in a liver transplantation in 1996, greatly contributing to advancing organ transplantation in Korea. The facility also introduced a variety of cutting-edge technologies, from the LASIK, the advanced laser eye surgery, and cataract laser treatment to radiofrequency ablation for liver cancer.

The Ilsong Head-and-Neck Cancer Center was set up in 2008 as the nation’s first facility devoted to Comprehensive care for head & neck cancer including tongue cancer, cheilocarcinoma, laryngeal cancer, oral cancer, pharynx cancer, and salivary gland cancer.
